Tea is one of the industries, which by an Act of Parliament comes under the control of the Union Govt. The genesis of the Tea Board India dates back to 1903 when the Indian Tea Cess Bill was passed. The Bill provided for levying a cess on tea exports - the proceeds of which were to be used for the promotion of Indian tea both within and outside India.

Form E submission
As per Tea Marketing Control Order, 2003, no manufacturer shall carry on the activities of manufacturing of tea except under a valid registration obtained under this Order in respect of each factory. As per provisions of clause 7(1), every registered manufacturer shall furnish to the Registering authority, a monthly return in Form āEā or such other information as the registering authority may call for from time to time. For the convenience of the manufacturer, Tea Board has developed an online portal for filing of Form āEā returns monthly.
Garden Survey
The project was approved in the Board on 29th March, 2011 with the outlay expenditure
of Rs.40 lakhs. Tea Board inorder to change its approach and cope up with the
demanding developments that take place in other sectors of the Ministry of
Commerce and Industry, has initiated steps to conduct a Tea Garden Baseline
Survey. This survey is designed to be most competitive in nature which will enable
to understand, derive, and create new and improved models for developing the Tea
Industry. Based on the questionnaire prepared for Tea Garden Baseline Survey
project, it was decided to design customized software in-house. All questions in the
questionnaire were covered in the software in order to generate detailed informative
report at every level in the software. Profiles that are covered in the software are;

4. Human Resources Profile
5. Human Resources Development
6. Pending Claims Profile
7. Suggestions
Tea Board Management system.
The TMS will be whole software which will have all the information of the stakeholders and will help in generating different types of reports required for the Board in the event managing activities like registration, sanctioning, verifying etc. The TMS will cover all the functionalities of Tea Board, the work flow in the board will also be computerized and all the officials can access information from any place provided they hold a valid login ID provided by the board to work on the software.
